1. What do you love most about Wake Forest?
Year round schools and quality of the education. Access to great kids sports leagues and outdoor activities. Access to family recreation – golf courses and lake and river for boating are right around the corner, Durham Bulls games 30 minutes away, beach and mountain getaways are both 3 hours away, great restaurants for parents date night and Wake Forest is close to the city and shopping conveniences, but seems a world away.
2. What are the best things about your neighborhood?
Kids of all ages are all over the place, fishing in the community lake, cook outs and fires with neighborhood friends, and sledding down the big hill when it snows.
3. What are a few of your favorite LOCAL restaurants or shops?
We love downtown Wake Forest area – brewery and world class hot dogs are my speed, my wife loved the great farm to table places in downtown Raleigh and Durham as well (Poole’s Diner in Raleigh is probably our favorite and Gugelhupf in Durham has the best Christmas time goodies you’ll ever eat. Too many good Bar B Q places to mention, you’re better off trying them all for yourself anyway.
4. What are some of the best nearby conveniences?
Don’t need to go far to shop. Falls Lake and park are great and canoeing or floating down Falls River in summer is hard to beat. Joyner Park is fantastic for jogging, biking, picnicking, and the spring time concerts. The Y at The Factory and The Y in Wakefield are top of the line facilities. Kids soccer, baseball, and football are fantastic as well.
5. What area your favorite things about yours home?
The great neighbors, the large secluded lot for football and baseball games and enjoying the privacy out back for reading and fire pits, and nightly visits by the neighborhood deer herd.
