1. What do you love most about living in your city/town?

Raleigh is an amazing city. It always seems like new restaurants are popping up, it has a great music scene with a lively downtown, and is home to a lot of great sports teams (Go Wolfpack!). It’s central to a lot of cool places like Asheville in the mountains for Wilmington at the beach. People are really friendly and you can’t beat the changing leaves in the Fall!

2. What are the best things about your neighborhood?

One of my favorite parts about Brier Creek is the proximity – proximity to work, to downtown Raleigh, to daily shopping as well as mall shopping. Brier Creek really has it all. The neighborhood also does a lot to celebrate holidays around the community. For example, there’s a local pub that holds events for the 4th of July and people come from all over to watch the fireworks. There is always something to do from a short walk or drive away.

3. What are a few of your favorite LOCAL restaurants or shops?

For local watering holes, I always loved Trali. It’s a fun, laid back pub. If you’re looking for cocktails, there’s always Bar Louie. For sushi, I love Tasu. Los Tres Magueyes is great for a quick meal and a great margarita. Finally, there are a lot of sports bars in the area like Wild Wing Cafe and Carolina Ale House that are packed during game days and a lot of fun.

4. What are some of the best nearby conveniences?

Lowe’s grocery is right up the road but Earth Fare is even closer and is a lot of fun if you’re looking to pick up something a little nicer or if you’re passionate about organic foods. Target and WalMart are also very close so there isn’t a staple that you can’t access. The airport is an 8 minute drive away so if you’re like me and have to travel for work, it makes those early morning flights a lot easier.

5. What are your favorite things about your home?

This was the first house I ever bought so it has a lot of really special memories for me. I absolutely love the screened in porch. The lot the house is on has a different shape so it’s more private than some of the other areas in the community. I loved sitting back there with a book and a nice glass of wine without worrying about mosquitoes in the North Carolina summer. I also loved my kitchen. The island leads directly from the kitchen into the living room so it was really easy to entertain and spend time with company even when cooking. The pendant lights in the kitchen (and matching dining room chandelier) are also some of my favorite things. My husband loved the bonus room upstairs. The space is extremely versatile so he set it up to have an office in the “nook” area where he could look out the windows when working from home. He created more of a living area in the main space and could watch the news in the morning before kicking off his work day. It could easily be used as a play room, workout room, etc. When we had guests, they had more of a private space with the bedroom, bathroom, living area upstairs so it turned into more of a guest suite. It was really a nice value add for us to have.
